Academic Rank: Candidates for the rank of Assistant Librarian should possess a graduate degree in library or information studies or other appropriate degree; must have demonstrated potential ability as a librarian; and must have shown promise of growth in research and service. Candidates for the rank of Associate Librarian should possess the same qualifications as the assistant librarian, demonstrate excellence in librarianship, show evidence of an established reputation in research, and have a strong record of service to the University and the profession. Application Process All candidate materials must be submitted via Workday. Interested candidates are expected to upload a resume or CV, cover letter and a list of three professional references. Cover letter and other application materials should demonstrate the candidate's interest in business librarianship, as well as their professional qualifications, experience, and contributions to librarianship, teaching, research, and/or service. Application materials should reflect a commitment to equal opportunity and respect for all individuals. Candidates are encouraged to highlight how their work promotes inclusive access to information and supports the academic mission of the institution. - Design and deliver a program of library instruction (including the development of online library guides and tutorials) that supports the curriculum of liaison academic units.
- Provide reference assistance and research consulting (both face-to-face and online) for subject-specific research at all levels.
- Build, maintain, and assess collections in all media and formats to support research and teaching in assigned academic units. Collaborate and coordinate with librarians in related subject areas and libraries, including Commonwealth Campus Libraries (CCLs) and peers through the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA).
- Participate in the intellectual life and operations of assigned academic units; engage with faculty and students as a colleague in both disciplinary activities and in library services; and serve as liaison to centers affiliated with assigned academic units.
- Contribute to the advancement of Penn State Libraries' programs for scholarly communication, open access (OA) initiatives, and open educational resources (OER).
- Engage in research, scholarly publication, and professional service activities in areas appropriate to academic librarianship and the disciplines served.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Masters of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited institution (or relevant graduate degree)
- Instruction and/or reference experience in an academic, special, or research library
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace
- Potential to achieve the requirements for tenure and promotion in the areas of librarianship, research, and service
- Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in business librarianship
- Demonstrated experience or education working with business, economics, or related information sources
- Familiarity with business information sources
- Experience finding and using economic, financial, and related data to support research
