Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant is a hands-on, high-impact role spanning the full accounting cycle along with payroll and benefits accounting. You will own the monthly and annual close, contribute to budgeting and forecasting, and serve as a technical resource and mentor to accounting staff. This is an ideal fit for a well-rounded accountant who enjoys variety and wants visibility with leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger review
• Prepare accurate financial statements, management reports, and analyses in accordance with GAAP
• Reconcile balance sheet, revenue, and expense accounts, including bank-to-ledger reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances
• Oversee core accounting functions including AP, AR, billing, fixed assets, and cash/investment tracking
• Manage the payroll process, timekeeping review, processing, and quarterly and annual payroll tax filings
• Support benefits accounting: enrollments and terminations, invoice review, cost allocation, and retirement plan reporting
• Partner on the annual budget with revenue and expense projections, and monitor results against plan throughout the year
• Prepare required regulatory and compliance reports and filings
• Maintain and improve the accounting system, internal controls, and documented procedures
• Take on special projects and ad hoc analysis for leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
• 5+ years of progressive professional accounting experience
• Strong command of GAAP, full-cycle accounting, and the audit process
• Hands-on payroll experience, including payroll tax reporting; working knowledge of benefits administration and HR practices
• Experience with accounting/ERP software such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or QuickBooks Enterprise, plus advanced Excel skills
• Supervisory, training, or mentoring experience a plus
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and discretion with confidential information
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills; able to manage multiple deadlines
