School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) - Williamsburg, Virginia

Step into a meaningful contract position providing dedicated care and support to a middle school student requiring attentive 1:1 nursing care. This rewarding assignment runs from August 24th to June 9th and offers consistent weekday hours, 7:30am to 3:30pm, with the unique opportunity to accompany the student throughout their school day-including bus rides.


Your role is crucial in ensuring the wellbeing and safety of a student living with absence seizures. You will monitor for seizure activity, administer rescue medication as needed, and deliver thorough care-all while maintaining a supportive and compassionate environment. Additionally, routine vital signs monitoring including blood pressure and temperature checks are essential elements of this position.


Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure
• Recent experience in a school or pediatric setting strongly preferred
• Strong clinical skills with seizure monitoring and emergency medication administration (nasal spray)
• Confidence in providing care during transportation (school bus)
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities
• Ability to quickly respond to medical situations with calm, sound judgment
• CPR/BLS certification

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 nursing care for a middle schooler during school hours and bus transport
• Monitor for and recognize symptoms of absence seizures
• Administer rescue medications as prescribed and manage seizure protocols
• Perform routine temperature and blood pressure checks
• Communicate effectively with school staff, teachers, and parents as needed
• Keep accurate records of health events, interventions, and medications administered
