Job Overview Maintenance Mechanics performs preventive and corrective maintenance on material handling equipment, including daily inspections of mechanical and electrical components such as material handling equipment, powered equipment, and physical building structures. Full‑time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week, while part‑time colleagues are typically scheduled 12‑24 hours per week. Identify problems requiring outside vendors and inform the manager or supervisor Perform preventative maintenance on material handling equipment, including daily inspections of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components. Report any problems to the manager or supervisor Utilize the computerized maintenance management system; monitor, report, and document usage and replacement of equipment and parts Dismantle machines or equipment to examine parts for defects or to remove defective parts Replace defective parts with new parts or repair or reproduce parts Assemble and test operate machine to verify correction of malfunction. Maintain and lubricate machine tools and equipment Perform preventative maintenance on the facility (carpentry, plumbing, and electrical duties) Know the operation and safe storage practices of ARC and MIG welding equipment, including OXY/ACETYLENE and PLASMA welding and cutting Maintain a safe working environment at all times and report possible safety concerns to the manager or supervisor Disassemble, inspect and perform routine repairs and rebuilds of defective parts on all equipment associated with the automated warehouse May be required to install or recharge batteries for any battery‑powered material handling equipment Adhere to all maintenance safe work practices and maintain a safe working environment at all times Remove dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines, and may paint machines or equipment to prevent corrosion Perform basic electrical tasks such as replacing motors, fuses, and switches Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities Who You Are Candidates with a High School Diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply 1–2 years of direct experience Commercial or industrial maintenance related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Read and understand employment policies and safety rules/procedures in English Understand and communicate effectively with co‑workers and people leaders Resourceful self‑starter; works well independently as well as part of a team Proficient in the use of computers and handheld technology Ability to work a flexible schedule, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays Essential Physical Requirements You Will Perform Position requires prolonged periods of standing/walking around store or department May involve reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, climbing ladders, depth perception and color vision Frequent use of computers and other technology necessary to perform job duties, including handheld electronic equipment Frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs. Random drug testing for all colleagues will be conducted on a monthly or semi‑monthly basis, depending on factors including but not limited to the size of the facility and the number of colleagues on roll. Colleagues will be randomly selected for testing by a third party. Testing must be completed on the same workday the colleague is informed of selection for testing, absent extenuating circumstances. In all circumstances, testing must be completed within 24 hours of notification.
