Health Unit Coordinator

The Health Unit Coordinator provides non-clinical support for the patient care area under the guidance and direction of the Nursing Staff leadership. Core job duties include providing care to patients in an organized and systematic manner according to institutional policy in keeping with patient safety principles, performing all clerical functions, exhibiting good organizational, time management and teamwork skills, serving as the main focus for communication in the nursing station regarding all unit patient care activities to ensure efficient coordination of the unit activities, demonstrating the ability and competency to respond quickly and efficiently in emergency situations, answering the telephone, directing all calls appropriately, taking an accurate message and delivering to the appropriate individual, and communicating any problems, concerns or issues promptly to the nurse.

Minimum requirements include BLS Certification through the American Heart Association, office/clerical experience in a medical setting, patient care experience preferred, knowledge of medical terminology, as well as good computer proficiency, with excellent customer service and communication skills, being detail oriented and possessing multi-tasking skills, and the ability to walk and stand for extended periods with the ability to lift, push and pull.

Salary range: $17.50 - $24.76 (Based on experience)
