Job Details Job ID: 5765694 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Jun 08, 2026 12:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: To Be Determined Job Description The head varsity basketball coach will handle all aspects of the high school basketball program, including coordinating the middle school program to develop the feeder system. The coach is responsible for teaching athletes techniques, skills, and strategies that prepare them for competition, integrating Cabot, Danville, and Twinfield schools into one program. Practices and game locations will be determined with the assistance of the head coach and Athletic Directors. Job Responsibilities Hold organizational meetings for team recruitment. Develop a pre‑season schedule that includes conditioning, strength training, and skill development. Conduct tryouts for the basketball program. Develop practice plans and schedules to help players develop. Coach and instruct players regarding the rules, regulations, and skills of the game. Develop individual and team strategies for the season based on personnel. Monitor the academic progress of the student‑athletes. Model good sportsmanship and appropriate conduct and expect the same from players. Maintain good standing with the Vermont Principals Association. Complete the end‑of‑season checklist in a timely manner. Host end‑of‑season banquet or event for players (parents also if desired). Promote student‑athletes for postseason awards. Coordinate off‑season training opportunities for athletes. Qualifications Experience as a head or assistant coach is preferred. Experience as a player is preferred. Knowledge of the techniques, strategies, and skills of basketball. Ability to recruit and motivate players. A passion for working with student‑athletes and for basketball.
