Technical Product Manager

Location & Work Schedule

• Location: Chicago, IL (Preferred)
• Work Model: Hybrid Remote
• Expected onsite presence: 2-3 days per week
• Possibility of transitioning to full onsite (5 days/week) in the future
• Working Hours: CST business hours

Role Overview

The role is for a Technical Product Manager. This person acts as a liaison between business partners/business product managers and engineering teams. Requires a balance of technical expertise and the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications for engineering. Focus on the CAD digital platform, including services, microservices, service-based architecture, REST APIs, and data technologies. Familiarity with Redworks and AI technologies/tools is a plus.

Technical Skills

• Strong data experience: data lake, data hub, Snowflake, NRDS, Postgres, MySQL.
• Understanding of data pipelines.
• Experience with services built on top of data technologies and exposed via RESTful APIs.
• SQL query expertise and data profiling.
• Experience with Azure DevOps for epic/feature definitions and user stories.
• Confluence for documentation (design, architecture, technical documents). Jira experience is also acceptable if technical expertise is strong.
• No specific industry preference, but construction, mining, power, energy, or IoT background is a significant plus due to data collection and analysis from assets.
• API product owner experience is a good fit, especially if combined with data expertise.

Deliverables & Responsibilities

• Scoping documents (PowerPoint or ASTRO environment).
• Capturing epics and features.
• Writing requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Translating high-level requirements from product managers into digestible requirements for engineering teams.
• Working closely with architects to explain technical requirements and review proposed architectures.
• Estimating projects based on requirements and architecture.

Key Qualities

• Self-driven.
• Excellent communication skills, both upstream (stakeholders) and downstream (engineering).
• Ability to manage stakeholder expectations.
• Capable of independently grooming requirements.
• Preferably someone with a Product Owner or Product Manager title. Scrum Master background is not preferred for this specific role.
