VDC Spooler (Mechanical BIM / Revit)

Build the drawings that bring complex mechanical systems to life.

We're seeking a detail-oriented VDC Spooler to join a collaborative Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) team supporting some of the nation's most complex commercial and industrial construction projects. In this role, you'll transform coordinated BIM models into fabrication-ready spool drawings that drive shop production and successful field installation.

What You'll Do:

• Produce fabrication-ready pipe and duct spool drawings from coordinated BIM models.
• Create assembly drawings, skid drawings, spool maps, and manufacturing documentation for fabrication and installation.
• Review coordinated models for constructability, fabrication readiness, and installation sequencing.
• Define fabrication spools that maximize shop efficiency and streamline field installation.
• Generate fully annotated and dimensioned fabrication drawings with a high level of accuracy.
• Export manufacturing data from BIM models into fabrication and CAM software.
• Organize fabrication batches to support production schedules and project milestones.
• Coordinate with VDC Coordinators, Project Engineers, fabrication shops, and field personnel to resolve design issues before construction.
• Participate in quality reviews to minimize fabrication errors and reduce costly field rework.
• Support continuous improvement of VDC standards, workflows, and best practices.

What We're Looking For:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Construction Technology, or a related discipline preferred.
• Professional experience in VDC, BIM, mechanical drafting, construction, fabrication, or related industries.
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit (required).
• Experience creating fabrication or construction drawings for mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or piping systems.
• Understanding of BIM workflows, coordinated models, and construction documentation.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative project environment.

• Navisworks
• Autodesk Fabrication CADmep
• SysQue
• AutoCAD
• Bluebeam
• Mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC systems
• Pipe or duct spooling
• Prefabrication and modular construction
• Clash detection and constructability reviews
• Manufacturing or shop fabrication workflows
• Commercial, industrial, healthcare, mission-critical, or data center construction
