Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Construction Accountant.

In this role, the successful candidate is reporting to the Assistant Director; Project Financial Administration, the Project Accountant-Construction will be responsible to maintain accounting and financial reporting from inception of projects throughout close-out across multiple capital projects in their portfolio.

Job Responsibilities:

* Responsible for reviewing and processing financial documents and transactions related to Contracts, Purchase Orders, Change Orders, and Invoices as they relate to CM’s, GC’s and Architects/Engineers in a timely and accurate manner. * Perform day-to-day activities and functions while ensuring that departmental policies and procedures as well as cost and accounting standards are fully adhered to and implemented. * Interface with Project Managers & Project Team as needed to accomplish all tasks timely. * Interact & communicate with CM’s & vendors as needed to ensure invoicing is submitted per contractual terms. * Perform vendor account reconciliations. * Monitor budgets & transfers as necessary. * Maintain organized records of meetings, open items and decisions. Document files and issue relevant memoranda. * Ensure Real Estate Development and Facilities financial systems are updated and fully reconciled against organizational financial systems. Collaborate with other departments as needed. * Responsible for the electronic maintenance of accurate, well documented project records. * Review Vendor A/R & NYU A/P reports as needed to keep payments on schedule. * Assist with Budgets & Cash flows as necessary. * Assist with audits as needed * Collaborate with Project Managers to closeout projects. * Provides data analysis * Ad-hoc projects as needed

Key Competencies

* Full understanding of Project Accounting and experience in Construction Manager GMP projects as well as General Contractor Lump Sum projects and a clear understanding of the nuances between the two. * Strong experience with G702/G703 GMP progress billings & Change Orders for CM & subcontractors. * Comprehensive review of CM Requisition including knowledge of: * Retainage * Lien Waivers * Stored material & back-up * Union & staff payroll – hours & rates * Insurances – Knowledge of OCIP, CCIP, General Liability, Subguard a plus. * Fee calculations * Familiarity with Anticipated Cost Reporting * Knowledge of Agency Accounts (as Agent for) and Imprest accounts and bank reconciliations. * Ability to assist with Budgets & Cash flows as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or other related field.
• Minimum of 5 years working experience in the construction industry.
• Proficient in Excel
• Demonstrate capacity and initiative to function independently, assume ownership and responsibility for daily activities and make well-informed decisions without regular supervision or prompting.
• Capacity to carry through projects and assignments and work within diverse, cross-functional teams to achieve common objectives and deliver results.
• Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and detail oriented.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work and manage timelines in a demanding environment.
• Demonstrate proficiency with the technology required to perform job requirements.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization; strong written & verbal skills a must.
• Excellent judgment and strong reasoning ability.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $55,595.27 - $92,658.80 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
