About the Position

Job Title: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years required. License: Must have active state license in hand to apply. Certifications: BLS required. Must-Have: PICC line management and experience with Starting IVs is required. Cerner experience preferred. Must be willing to take trach and laryngectomy patients. Must be willing to learn to care for these patients. Must be willing to take a maximum patient ratio of 1:7 if needed. Description: This position is for a Med Surg RN working 3x12 or 4x12 Days. Shift hours are from 0645 to 1915. The clinician is expected to work every other weekend. If time off is requested on a weekend, the traveler will be scheduled accordingly. The traveler will be required to make up for additional weekends as per rotation. There is no on-call requirement for this position. The clinician will float as needed within scope to meet facility needs. The facility is an acute care hospital with Level I trauma center status and is a Magnet facility. The unit will involve patient diagnoses that may require various nursing skills such as blood product administration, colostomy and ileostomy management, and surgical drain care. Special equipment may include feeding tube pumps, intravenous infusion pumps, and suction devices. The ideal candidate should be available for a range of patient care procedures including dressing changes, central line dressing changes, and suctioning. Candidates should expect to work with diverse patient age groups including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The team environment emphasizes interdisciplinary support.
