Controller

Controller (Temp-to-Hire) Location: New Providence, NJ Area Schedule: Full-time | Onsite initially, transitioning to a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office / 2 remote) after approximately six months Compensation: $50-$65/hour (Temp-to-Hire) Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function and provide strategic financial leadership. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on CPA who enjoys improving processes, developing teams, and partnering with leadership to drive business performance. Responsibilities Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, inventory, and fixed assets. Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Prepare and review financial statements, account reconciliations, and financial analysis. Ensure compliance with GAAP and federal, state, and sales & use tax regulations. Maintain strong internal controls and coordinate external audits. Oversee customer credit approvals and 1099 reporting. Analyze inventory valuation, aging, and gross margin performance. Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while driving process improvements. Partner with executive leadership to provide financial reporting and business insights. Qualifications CPA license required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting. 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities. Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting. Experience with QuickBooks and advanced Excel skills. Experience managing audits and working directly with external CPA firms. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
