Safety Specialist (Contract) Position Title Safety Specialist (Contract) Location Hobbs, New Mexico Duration 4-6 Month Assignment Start Date Immediate Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Safety Specialist to support operations at an industrial power generation facility in Hobbs, New Mexico. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial safety programs, OSHA compliance, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and contractor safety management. This individual will be responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting daily field activities. Responsibilities Monitor and enforce site safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Conduct field safety observations, inspections, and audits. Support and administer Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs. Oversee confined space entry activities and permit compliance. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards. Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments. Assist with contractor safety orientation and oversight. Lead incident investigations and prepare corrective action plans. Support permit-to-work systems and work planning activities. Deliver safety training and toolbox talks. Maintain safety documentation, reports, and compliance records. Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the facility. Required Qualifications Minimum 3+ years of industrial safety experience. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance requirements. Experience with: Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Confined Space Entry Hot Work Permits Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Incident Investigation Contractor Safety Management Ability to work independently in an active industrial environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications Experience in power generation, oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, or heavy industrial facilities. OSHA 30 Hour Certification. CHST, ASP, CSP, or equivalent safety certifications. Experience supporting outage, turnaround, commissioning, or construction activities. CPR/First Aid certification. Schedule Full-time contract assignment. Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as required by project needs.
