Laboratory - Medical Lab Technician

Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist

We are seeking an experienced MLT/MLS with current Generalist Certification or Specialty Certification. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Hematology and Blood Bank, as well as the qualification to perform high complexity testing according to CLIA standards. This is a 13-week contract position.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient specimens and utilize the Information System to manage patient orders and test results.
• Perform lab tests in hematology, urinalysis, chemistry, and blood bank or microbiology by automated and manual methods.
• Analyze test results for validity and accuracy before releasing information to patient charts.
• Ensure designated turnaround times for results are met and critical results are reported and documented appropriately.
• Conduct quality control and proficiency testing procedures as outlined by policy.
• Interpret and troubleshoot quality control results to maintain accurate testing standards.
• Perform preventative maintenance, minor troubleshooting, and calibration of laboratory instrumentation.
• Participate in method and instrument evaluation and implementation initiatives.
• Engage in teaching and training of new staff and students.
• Maintain competency in current procedures and achieve competency in new methods introduced in the lab.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current MLT/MLS Generalist Certification or Specialty Certification (BB, C, H, or M).
• Hematology and Blood Bank experience is required.
• Qualified to perform high complexity testing according to CLIA 493.1489 standards.
• Education verification is required.
