Application Specialist

Job Summary Trane Technologies, through its Trane® and Thermo King businesses, invites you to join our Application Specialist role in Grimes. This position focuses on the equipment portion of various projects, including validating equipment selection, pricing, discounts, and submittal processes, and driving budget performance. Work Schedule Monday to Thursday – onsite with colleagues. Fridays – choose remote or onsite, depending on project needs. Responsibilities Optimize and validate HVAC equipment selection, including size, configuration, voltage, and options. Review plans, specifications, original estimate, and proposal to evaluate potential cost savings or cost issues. Validate project scope by reviewing transition documents, plans and specs; list possible cost savings and problems; plan equipment/volume dollar breaks; validate quantities and configurations. Support sales by developing preliminary or final submittals; hold job‑cost consensus meetings; release submittals and implement necessary changes. Negotiate material prices with vendors to maintain competitive advantage and manage expenses. Prepare equipment for order entry, verify pricing, revise coordination worksheets, and reconcile job costs. Provide post‑order technical support for equipment installation, start‑up, warranty service, and controls. Qualifications Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction, Engineering Technology, or related field with at least two (2) years of HVAC project management or estimating experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Minimum of five (5) years of HVAC industry project management or estimating experience; or equivalent. Practical experience, relevant skills, and alignment with leadership principles are highly valued; a four‑year degree is not required. Familiarity with HVAC systems and/or temperature controls preferred. Flexibility to work outside normal hours as needed. Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations in the past three years. Compensation Annual base salary range: $90,900.00 – $130,059.99. Salary based on seniority, merit, geography, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation. Incentive eligible: Yes.
