Position Summary The Advanced Manufacturing Technician is a key member of the manufacturing team, assisting in the implementation, integration, and operation of advanced manufacturing capabilities such as electrical discharge machining (EDM) and electro chemical machining (ECM). This hands‑on role operates advanced manufacturing equipment and works closely with Manufacturing Engineering to produce prototype and production parts for BN’s customers. Key Results Areas Operate ECM and wire EDM machines to meet development and production schedules. Provide input to and execute production schedules for multiple ECM and EDM machines and ensure hardware is created on time. Independently learn and increase self‑proficiency on machine operation by designing and testing new tooling and electrode concepts. Perform and coordinate machine maintenance and calibrations per supplier intervals and scope. Develop and follow internal process documents and training manuals for ECM and EDM to ensure long‑term sustainability. Maintain process documentation that establishes operating procedures from start to finish, including chemical procurement, storage, handling, electrolyte management, machine operation, profile measurement, and post‑processing. Provide effective communication and solutions to problems, being a continual resource for teammates and external customers. Integrate continuous improvements and process efficiency within the manufacturing department. Foster a responsive and positive environment in the face of often‑changing priorities and workload. Collaborate with designers and manufacturing engineers to adapt current designs and provide feedback for improved ECM and EDM manufacturability. Maintain ECM and EDM tooling, supplies, and equipment in a clean and organized fashion to foster efficient and repeatable production. Education and Training Formal or on‑the‑job exposure/training in a high‑aptitude manufacturing technology such as electrical discharge machining or related technology. Experience Three years of experience in a high‑aptitude manufacturing environment such as electrical discharge machining or related technologies. Experience with precision assembly or setting up conventional metal machining equipment (lathes, mills, grinders) is helpful. Experience using common inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, etc.). Other Must be willing to work overtime as required. Travel on rare occasions, up to 10%. Desired Job Qualification Experience in SolidWorks, Mastercam, and Microsoft Office software. Experience with EDM and fixture design. Skills Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, project management, ERP, database, and specialized engineering software. Ability and willingness to abide by safety programs and policies established by BN, clients, or regulatory agencies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. High attention to detail. Ability to plan and implement objectives within established timelines and work schedules. Ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions at strategic and functional levels. Demonstrate behavior consistent with company values. Ability to work independently, with minimal direction, and as part of a team‑oriented culture. Physical and Mental Demands Physical Demands: The incumbent primarily sits, stands, walks, stoops, and bends. Required to speak and communicate clearly. Exert up to 25 lbs occasionally, 10 lbs frequently, and 5 lbs constantly to move objects. Corrected vision to 20/20 or adequate and ability to distinguish colors. Mental Demands: Read, write, analyze data and reports, exercise judgment, develop plans, procedures, and goals, present information, and work under pressure. Work Environment: Manufacturing environment with high noise, temperature changes, exposure to hazardous materials, fumes or airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts with vibration. Compensation and Benefits The hourly range for this role is $28.00 – $35.00, commensurate with experience. This position pays a 15% differential rate over base and any time over 40 hours is paid at time and a half when employee moves to night shift. The range represents the anticipated minimum and maximum base for this position. The final compensation will be based on the applicant’s qualifications.
