Human Resources Specialist

A well-established nonprofit organization is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to join its collaborative and mission-driven team. This individual will play a vital role in supporting the organization’s people initiatives through recruitment coordination, onboarding, payroll and benefits administration, employee engagement efforts, and day-to-day HR operations. Key Responsibilities of the Human Resources Specialist:

• Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data while ensuring compliance with company policies and record retention requirements.
• Serve as a resource for employees and managers by providing guidance on HR policies, benefits, payroll processes, and general employment-related questions.
• Support payroll administration, timekeeping reviews, benefits enrollment activities, and employee data updates in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate full-cycle recruitment activities, including job postings, interview scheduling, candidate communication, reference checks, and onboarding support.
• Assist with employee engagement programs, recognition initiatives, team events, and communication efforts that enhance workplace culture.
• Coordinate leave administration processes, maintain required documentation, and support compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.
• Contribute to performance management, compensation planning, process improvement initiatives, and other special projects within the People Operations function.

Qualifications of the Human Resources Specialist:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Psychology, Communications, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources, People Operations, Talent Acquisition, or employee relations experience.
• Experience working with HRIS platforms, payroll systems, and employee benefits administration; Paycom experience required.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with the ability to manage and analyze employee data accurately.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional, service-oriented approach to employee support.
• High level of discretion, attention to detail, and sound judgment when handling confidential information and sensitive employee matters.
