Position Profile The Discipline of Anatomical Pathology PathWest seeks to appoint a suitably qualified, enthusiastic Consultant Pathologist to the Fiona Stanley Hospital/Royal Perth Hospital network. Subspecialty interest or expertise in cytopathology, gastrointestinal and cardiothoracic pathology are strongly desirable. Given our intention to commence transition into digital pathology within the next 12 months, knowledge in this area will be beneficial. PathWest Anatomical Pathology provides a state‑wide public histopathology and cytopathology service with laboratories co‑located in Fiona Stanley Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital, Perth Children’s Hospital, and King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women. The laboratory processes more than 100,000 surgical and 25,000 cytology cases annually and provides a full range of diagnostic services, including histopathology, cytopathology, electron microscopy, molecular pathology and non‑coronial autopsy services. Large numbers of consultation cases are referred each year by pathologists from within WA and interstate. The appointee will be highly motivated, have demonstrated ability to work harmoniously as part of a large team of Anatomical Pathologists, and will provide responsive, best‑practice, client‑focused service. The appointee will share the Department's strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, continuing education, and applied clinical research in pathology. A strong focus on registrar training is also required.
