Position Summary The AMPS Facility Coordinator oversees all aspects of the AMPS properties daily operations and ensures a safe and clean school facility is maintained to ensure a secure and comfortable environment conducive to student learning and a positive work environment for staff. The position requires a strong leader and a team player who has good conflict-resolution skills and is able to respond calmly to crisis situations. Must be a self motivated individual who proactively seeks out issues at the school facility level that need to be addressed through prevention based, and planned work. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily Operations & Security Conduct a comprehensive daily inspection of the building every morning to identify immediate maintenance, safety, or cleanliness issues. Check the boiler, pumps, air handlers, temperature controls, and all HVAC components daily to ensure optimal performance. Track, issue, and process returns for all physical building keys. Input, manage, and delete building security codes for staff. Manage daily lock-up procedures to ensure all doors, gates, and windows are secured and alarms are set at the end of the school day. Remain available to respond to after-hours building emergencies, security alarms, or urgent facility crises. Maintenance & Minor repairs Perform basic on-site repairs, including fixing loose fixtures, replacing broken switches, changing light bulbs, fixing door handles, and repairing minor leaks. Safely locate and execute building shut-offs for gas, electricity, or water during emergencies. Unclog toilets and maintain operational bathroom fixtures across campus. Build, manage, and execute automated preventative maintenance structures and repair activities for school buildings. Report major building damages to the Senior Director of Operations Director and actively oversee contracted repair technicians until completed. Perform cleaning of exterior windows, entry doors, and glass surfaces to maintain campus presentation. Support the janitorial team by performing spot cleaning, resetting messy common spaces, and clearing minor hallway hazards. Supply Chain & Asset Management Manage inventory and place accurate, timely orders for school, cleaning, and general facilities supplies. Catalog and monitor school property, furniture, and non-instructional equipment. Act as the primary site liaison for external contractors and repair technicians when systems break down. Safety, Compliance & Weather Monitoring Coordinate with site safety leads to schedule, verify, and document 100% of required emergency drills on time. Track local outdoor temperatures daily to execute extreme weather protocols and notify principals to modify recess or outdoor activities accordingly. Ensure facility spaces continually meet local safety requirements and California Williams Legislation standards. Maintain cleanliness of exterior site including but not limited to daily trash pick up, graffiti removal, etc. Perform maintenance and minor repairs (unclogging toilets, shutting off gas, electricity, or water, changing light bulbs, replacing broken switches, fixing door handles, fixing minor leaks, etc.); Report major damages and oversee repairs; Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows and setting up the alarm; Undertake occasional custodial and janitorial tasks (lifting heavy items, moving chairs, etc.); Required Skills/Abilities Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures; Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance; Ability to operate and care for cleaning equipment, supplies, and lift heavy equipment; Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies Proficiency in written and spoken English sufficient to perform job duties effectively Ability to read and write in English at a level appropriate for the duties of the position; Follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; Ability to clearly relay information, both written and verbal, for maintenance, custodial, or health and safety repairs or concerns; Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator; Time-management and multitasking abilities Preferred Knowledge of exposure to moist or wet conditions, dust, chemicals, hazardous materials and blood borne pathogens, variances in temperature, noise, and equipment with moving parts; Knowledge of COVID disinfection processes; Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances; Basic knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work; Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components; Familiarity with basic repairs and handyman practices Proven experience as custodian, handyman, janitor or in a similar role (preferred) Using commercial vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleaners Basic knowledge of heating or air conditioning equipment to adjust for temperature; Knowledge of thorough floor maintenance including stripping and refinishing floors, and scouring, shampooing, waxing, or spotting floor surfaces. Qualifications At least three (3) years of building custodial or maintenance experience; Any combination of training, experience, and/or education sufficient to demonstrate the required qualifications. Working knowledge of English (Speaking, Reading, and writing) is mandatory. Must have a valid driver's license. Must pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) Fingerprint clearance Physical Requirements Must be able to perform work involving, but not limited to, lifting, carrying, and maneuvering heavy objects; squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling; Ability to walk for long periods Ability to lift and move over 50 pounds Physical stamina for everyday act AMPS is strongly committed to hiring a diverse and multicultural staff, and we encourage applications from traditionally under--represented backgrounds.
