Our client, a large and well-established food manufacturing organization with multiple production facilities across the United States, is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Manager to lead the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of a critical water treatment system supporting a major manufacturing complex.

This position offers an opportunity to play a highly visible role in maintaining water quality, environmental compliance, operational reliability, and team leadership within a complex industrial environment. The successful candidate will oversee water treatment operations, well systems, regulatory compliance, and operator development while ensuring uninterrupted support of plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Maintenance

  • Direct and oversee all Water Treatment Plant and associated well operations.
  • Ensure optimal water treatment quality and system performance to support manufacturing operations.
  • Manage preventative maintenance programs, repairs, equipment reliability, chemical inventories, and spare parts.
  • Maintain all treatment equipment, pumps, wells, and supporting infrastructure.

Compliance & Environmental Stewardship

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, reports, and regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinate reporting requirements related to water usage, permitting, and environmental compliance.
  • Partner with Environmental and Wastewater leadership to support company sustainability initiatives.

Process Improvement

  • Analyze operational data, system performance metrics, and treatment results.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, water quality, and cost performance.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise and support Water Treatment Operators and related personnel.
  • Lead employee training, scheduling, performance management, and professional development activities.
  • Foster a culture centered on safety, accountability, operational excellence, and teamwork.
  • Ensure team members have the tools, equipment, and resources necessary to perform safely and effectively.

Safety

  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure adherence to all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections and safety reviews of equipment and operating procedures.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of Water Treatment and/or Wastewater operations experience.
  • Current Water Treatment License with required endorsements.
  • Strong understanding of water treatment systems, wells, pumps, chemical treatment programs, and utility operations.
  • Knowledge of EPA regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in food processing, manufacturing, agricultural, or industrial operations.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring operators and technicians.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and environmental reporting programs.
