Athletic Trainer

Position Summary

Roving Sports Medicine Professionals is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to provide athletic training services for East St. Louis Senior High School. This position will support student-athletes through injury prevention, evaluation, emergency care, rehabilitation guidance, documentation, and communication with coaches, school administrators, parents/guardians, and healthcare providers.

The Athletic Trainer will serve as the primary on-site sports medicine provider for designated practices, home athletic events, away football games (3 games in IL, 1 game in FL) and school-sponsored athletic activities. This role is ideal for an athletic trainer who is organized, dependable, comfortable working independently, and passionate about providing high-quality care in the secondary school setting.

Position Support and Environment

Roving Sports Medicine Professionals is working closely with school leadership to strengthen communication, clarify expectations, and create a more supportive environment for the Athletic Trainer. Internal process improvements are being implemented to ensure the Athletic Trainer has appropriate administrative support, clear reporting channels, and the resources needed to provide high-quality care to student-athletes.

Primary Responsibilities

The Certified Athletic Trainer will be responsible for:

* Providing athletic training coverage for practices, home games, and school-sponsored athletic events.
* Evaluating athletic injuries and determining appropriate care, referral, or return-to-play recommendations.
* Providing first aid, emergency care, and injury management in accordance with accepted athletic training standards.
* Developing and implementing injury prevention, stretching, taping, bracing, and rehabilitation support programs.
* Maintaining accurate injury reports, treatment notes, incident documentation, and return-to-play records.
* Communicating with coaches, athletic administration, parents/guardians, physicians, and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
* Assisting with coordination of emergency action plans and ensuring emergency equipment is accessible and ready for use.
* Monitoring environmental conditions and advising coaches/administration regarding heat, lightning, or other safety concerns.
* Supporting concussion management and return-to-play processes in accordance with applicable laws, school policies, and physician guidance.
* Maintaining a clean, organized, and professional athletic training area.
* Promoting a positive, professional, and student-centered sports medicine environment.

No Clinic Requirement

* This position has no outside clinical obligation. The Athletic Trainer is not required to work in a physical therapy clinic, physician office, hospital system, or other outside clinical setting as part of this role. The position is focused on school-based athletic training services for East St. Louis Senior High School.

Schedule

The anticipated schedule is:

* Monday–Friday, approximately 1:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
* Extended Friday coverage during football season may be required, approximately 1:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
* Occasional schedule adjustments may be required based on athletic contests, playoffs, weather changes, and school needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have:

* Current BOC certification as an Athletic Trainer.
* Eligibility for or possession of an Illinois Athletic Trainer License.
* Current CPR/AED certification for the Professional Rescuer or Healthcare Provider.
* Bachelor’s degree or higher in athletic training or related field.
* Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
* Ability to work independently in a secondary school athletic environment.
* Ability to pass any school district background check, fingerprinting, or onboarding requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

Roving Sports Medicine Professionals offers a competitive compensation package that may include:

* Salary range starting at $62,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
* Full-time salary with reduced summer hours.
