Senior Database Engineer

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We look for formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, plus 5+ years of applied experience.
• We need hands-on experience with database system design, database development, performance testing, and operational stability.
• We require advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages and frameworks, such as Tigergraph, Oracle, SQL Server, Aurora Postgres, CockroachDB, or MongoDB.
• We value experience reviewing database implementations proactively to improve performance, efficiency, resilience, and cost effectiveness.
• We need experience supporting databases in DevOps environments, with strong automation and continuous delivery skills.
• We expect demonstrated success using approved AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to set standards for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• We require a strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resilience and security expectations.
• We need advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes, with deep expertise in at least one technical discipline such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile.
• We require strong command of the software development life cycle and advanced understanding of agile practices, including CI/CD, application resilience, and security.
• We look for the ability to perform database upgrades and migrations independently, with little to no oversight.
• Preferred: practical cloud-native experience.
• Preferred: direct experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Preferred: strong knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.

• We provide direct support to development teams carrying out database modernization work and act as a subject matter expert in one or more focus areas.
• We influence peers and decision-makers by recommending leading-edge database technologies aligned to business needs and application requirements.
• We contribute as a database engineer and development expert, supporting database modernization, optimization, performance tuning, and design work.
• We help drive adoption of enterprise-approved AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
• We apply software development life cycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value delivered through automation.
• We provide thought leadership and modernization guidance to application development teams through database analysis, migration, and post-migration support.
• We help design and build tools that accelerate database modernization efforts.
• We partner with PaaS, DBaaS, and Cloud Delivery teams to resolve issues and help shape self-service capabilities for application development teams.
• We participate in both tactical and strategic database modernization planning and help create modernization patterns.
• We influence product design, application functionality, technical operations, and processes, while working with other Center of Excellence teams to define best practices and design standards.
• We support application development teams with database design, troubleshooting, production issue resolution, and root cause analysis to strengthen database support capabilities.
