Unit details IU Methodist's Behavioral Health Services includes B8, C8, Secured Holding and ECT. Nurses hired into Behavioral Health are cross trained and work in all our areas. B8 is a 20‑bed medical surgical unit treating patients with primary medical diagnosis and secondary psychiatric diagnosis. C8 is a 16‑bed locked psychiatric unit focusing on primary psychiatric diagnoses. Secured Holding is a 5‑bed emergency psychiatric unit. ECT is the only ECT program in the state, treating 18‑24 patients three days a week. Nursing skills gained on this unit Excellent de‑escalation skills. CPI certification. Wide variety of medical skills including blood administration, IVIG, trach care, PCA pumps, wound management systems. Time management in a fast‑paced environment. Cross‑training to multiple areas. Knowledge of practice under both medical licensed and behavioral health licensed areas. Role responsibilities The Clinical Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of Indiana University Health and provides competent, evidence‑based care along the care continuum, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse participates in decision‑making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes, and enhance operational efficiency. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing, the Code of Ethics for Nurses, and all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and regulatory standards. Qualifications Associate’s of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor’s of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Candidates without such a program may be considered if they have more than two years of acute care experience, subject to review and approval. Basic Life Support certification through the AHA; other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit or department.
