Medical Director, Transplant Nephrology

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine are seeking a Medical Director, Transplant Nephrology (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor).
Location
Practice in Morgantown, WV. Depending on operational needs, the successful candidate may also provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, and travel will be expected to fulfill duties at these sites.
Role Overview
The Medical Director will provide medical leadership to the renal transplant program, ensuring compliance with UNOS bylaws and CMS regulations. Responsibilities include evaluation and planning for kidney and heart/kidney transplant patients, participating in the growth of the program through leadership activities, and supporting the Nephrology clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide medical leadership to the renal transplant program
- Ensure ongoing clinical operations of the kidney transplant program in compliance with UNOS and CMS regulations
- Guide evaluation and planning for kidney and heart/kidney transplant patients throughout all stages of transplantation
- Collaborate with the Surgical Director and other leadership team members on Patient Selection Committee, QAPI, strategic planning, and research initiatives
- Support the Nephrology section’s clinical practice needs, including inpatient and outpatient nephrology
- Teach medical students, residents, and fellows and mentor transplant staff in care of kidney patients
- Assist in ongoing support of the program
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent, eligible for state medical license
- Board certified in internal medicine and certified/eligible in nephrology
- Completed fellowship in nephrology and fellowship in transplant nephrology
- At least one year of experience in transplant nephrology
- Meet UNOS and OPTN requirements
