Backend Software Developer
This is a remote position. Duration: 12 months Location: Remote
Core Technical Requirements Primary Skills
- Scala (mandatory): Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience
- Java: Strong experience with Java 17+
- Backend Development: Building web services and data pipelines
Frameworks & Technologies
- Akka / Pekko (critical): Akka Streams (now Pekko Streams), Actors, Cluster, Singleton, Persistence,
- Functional Programming: Experience with Cats / Cats Effect
- Streaming & Distributed Systems: High-concurrency and distributed architecture experience
AWS & Cloud Stack
- Strong experience required with: IAM, Kinesis, DynamoDB, SQS / SNS, API Gateway, KMS
Additional Technical Skills
- SQL and query optimization
- CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred)
- DevOps exposure
- High availability & scalable system design
- Architecture-level understanding (hands-on, not theoretical)
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Typically 8+ years of experience
- Background: Started with Java → transitioned to Scala
- Strong in: Functional programming, Distributed systems, Stream processing
- Hands-on engineer (not managerial)
Interview Process
- Total rounds: 3
- Structure: 2 coding rounds, Additional round covering: Functional programming (Scala), SQL, AWS, CI/CD, System design
