Metrology Engineer
IPG Photonics continues to expand with new opportunities in our Massachusetts locations. The Metrology Engineer will be a part of a cohesive group involved in development and characterization of optical components and systems using laser-based advanced techniques.
Duties:
- Set up and complete experiments on an optical table, including optical alignment, optical and electrical assembly and testing, gathering and presentation of experimental data
- Operate and maintain variety of optical, test and analytical instruments
- Test all aspects of optical components, critical for laser development and manufacturing
- Participate in design and development of laser-based measurement tools
- Develop measurement methodology, control plans and protocols
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in Science or Engineering, preferably with major in Optics or Lasers or BS with 5+ years of directly related industry experience
- Hands-on experience with lasers and optical components
- Experience with optical metrology
- Working knowledge of Python or MATLAB
- Experience with optical and electrical test equipment, such as interferometers, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, organize and prioritize workload
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
