This state-operated healthcare organization provides residential and clinical services within a structured veterans care environment. The organization supports patients requiring ongoing nursing care, medication management, clinical monitoring, and coordinated multidisciplinary services.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care appropriate to the patients served and coordinates quality patient care through assessment, treatment planning, medication administration, clinical monitoring, and collaboration with medical and nursing staff. The RN recognizes behavioral and physical changes, develops nursing interventions, maintains a therapeutic environment, and may provide shift-level oversight to subordinate nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patients served.
• Demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development and assess and interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs.
• Provide professional nursing supervision and coordinate quality patient care through therapeutic relationships and active treatment.
• Provide and delegate patient care while recognizing behavioral and physical changes.
• Perform nursing assessments and develop, implement, and carry out nursing care recommendations.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic patient-care environment.
• Administer medications and oversee medication-room activities.
• Serve as a shift leader when assigned and provide oversight to subordinate nursing staff.
• Make work assignments for nursing staff assigned to the unit.
• Respond to medical emergencies.
• Take orders and provide care and treatment as ordered by medical staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned within the Nursing Department.

Required Qualifications

• Must possess a Kansas license or temporary permit, or otherwise be authorized to practice as a Registered Nurse by the Kansas State Board of Nursing.
• Must successfully complete an approved drug screening required for the assignment.
• Must complete any additional facility-required training or certification before providing patient care.
• Must maintain all required licenses, training, and certifications without interruption throughout the assignment.
• CPR certification must be provided during submission.
• License or certificate verification must be provided during submission.
• Required health and onboarding documentation must be provided according to assignment requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous geriatric, long-term care, skilled nursing, residential healthcare, or veterans care experience.
• Previous experience administering medications and overseeing medication-room operations.
• Previous charge nurse, shift leader, or nursing staff supervision experience.
• Experience responding to clinical emergencies and implementing physician or medical staff orders.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary patient-care teams.
