The position involves technical work in maintenance, repair, calibration and installation of electronic equipment; distribution and maintenance of laboratory test equipment for engineers; and ensuring efficient operation of the laboratory environment. The role also includes arrangement for repair and calibration of major equipment. Under general supervision you will perform skilled duties in soldering PCB components, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of equipment in the Electronics Laboratory. You will maintain, troubleshoot and repair high‑power electronics products (up to 8 kW) such as 3‑phase power supplies and motor drives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Diagnose and repair electronic device board circuitry; investigate failures down to component level. Perform SMT part soldering, e.g., replacement of microprocessors. Provide manufacturing test support, troubleshoot, isolate faults, and implement corrective actions. Create test reports for functional and performance testing of electronics products. Conduct engineering and development tests and detailed experimental testing to collect design data. Support product testing during integration, functional, design verification, performance and qualification testing phases. Install components, units, and printed circuit boards following specifications. Fabricate parts, cables, and test fixtures; maintain all related equipment, passive load and test fixtures. Maintain and write work procedures and documentation for each task performed. Customize units and make adjustments or repairs according to written specifications. Order and maintain inventory of replacement parts for electronic test equipment; maintain warranty, service and repair records; work with vendors for pricing and availability; perform quality checks on delivered equipment. Generate ADCNs for minor electronics assembly rework instructions per IPC standards. Generate engineering test and status reports. Interface with customers and suppliers as needed to support troubleshooting of electronics assemblies. Qualifications Hands‑on experience with electronics equipment such as programmable power supplies, high‑speed digital oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers. Understanding and testing knowledge of serial communication hardware. Strong work ethic, commitment to excellence, and ability to communicate and work within a team environment. Hands‑on experience using design/simulation tools such as Altium or Orcad. Ability to design prototype printed circuit board assembly test fixtures. General: Able to perform Job Hazard Analysis, Material Safety Review, and test setup safety review. Technical: Troubleshooting electronics and creating fault trees, 5‑Why, 8D, failure analysis; creating test reports (DVTP, DVTR, ATP, QTP, QTR, etc.).
