Community Support Specialist

A day in the life of a Community Support Specialist is active, meaningful, and always changing. Most of your time is spent "in the community," working alongside clients to provide employment-focused support at their job sites, in their homes, or out in local settings. You might support someone through their onboarding process, check in at their workplace to help problem-solve and build confidence, or assist with transportation and daily routines. Your day could also include exploring hobbies, attending community activities, or helping individuals build social and life skills that support independence. With a mix of job coaching, mentorship, and community engagement, each day offers new experiences—making this role a great fit for anyone looking to grow a career in human services while making a real impact.

Job Duties:

• Assist a caseload of clients in maintaining competitive employment and developing life skills for community participation, promoting independence and success.
• Provide on-the-job mentoring, including guiding clients through onboarding, training, creating a work schedule, and establishing means of transportation.
• Support job retention by offering ongoing training, counseling, and advocacy to resolve workplace issues and promote job satisfaction and advancement.
• Help clients develop personal life skills through person-centered planning and regular monitoring of progress toward individual goals.
• Complete required reports, participate in staff meetings and training, and maintain communication with the interdisciplinary team to track client progress and ensure program compliance.

Job Type: Full-Time, Part-Time

Pay: $21.50 - $22.50 per hour

Hiring Bonus: $250 upon successful completion of 90 day training period, $750 upon successful completion of first year of employment.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18, have a high school diploma/GED, a valid driver's license with a reliable vehicle, and proof of up-to-date auto insurance. Prior experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities in a social services field is not required but preferred.

• Woodbury, Burnsville, Apple Valley (Full Time)
• Jordan, MN (Part-Time, 10-15 hours/week)
• Shakopee/Burnsville/Eden Prairie (Can be combined with Jordan caseload if candidate desires more hours, up to 30/wk)
