Travel RN

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide hospice care services to patients throughout the Alexandria, Louisiana service area. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to hospice patients while supporting families and caregivers through the end-of-life journey.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, possess strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, and have previous hospice experience. The ideal candidate is a compassionate and self-directed RN who is passionate about hospice care and dedicated to improving quality of life for patients and families. Candidates with hospice experience, strong assessment skills, and the ability to work independently in the field will be especially successful in this role.

Position type: Minimum 3-month temp/contract role (possible extension)

Pay Rate: $ 55.92/hour


Schedule:

Regular Schedule:

• Monday - Friday


• 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM


On-Call Requirement:

• Approximately 3-5 days per month


• On-call days may fall on weekdays or weekends based on scheduling needs


Coverage Area

• Daily territory assignments vary based on patient census and location


• On-call coverage may include a service radius of up to 50 miles


Key Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care to hospice patients in homes, assisted living facilities, nursing facilities, and other care settings


• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop appropriate nursing interventions


• Manage symptom control, pain management, and end-of-life care needs


• Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding disease progression, medications, comfort measures, and care plans


• Collaborate with physicians, social workers, chaplains, aides, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care


• Attend and actively participate in Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) meetings


• Complete and maintain all required IDG documentation and weekly IDG notes accurately and on time


• Monitor changes in patient condition and communicate updates to the care team


• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with agency, state, and federal guidelines


• Participate in on-call coverage as assigned


Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License


• Current BLS Certification


• Strong patient assessment and clinical documentation skills


• Ability to work independently and manage a patient caseload effectively


Preferred Qualifications

• Previous hospice nursing experience


• Experience providing end-of-life care


• Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities


• Ability to work autonomously in community-based settings


• Excellent communication and patient/family education skills
