About the Role:

Synergy Business Innovation & Solutions, Inc. is seeking an experienced Application Developer to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG). This role will support the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise applications utilizing modern web technologies within an AWS IL2 environment. The ideal candidate will have experience developing scalable web applications, collaborating within Agile teams, and contributing to modern cloud-based architectures.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain web applications and services across the software development lifecycle.
• Develop and enhance Angular-based user interfaces and Node.js backend services in a microfrontend and microservices architecture.
• Analyze requirements and translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Develop, integrate, and support RESTful APIs and application integrations with internal and external systems.
• Write clean, maintainable, secure, and well-documented code following established development standards and best practices.
• Participate in solution design discussions and provide recommendations for application enhancements and technical improvements.
• Conduct peer code reviews and contribute to maintaining high standards of code quality, performance, and security.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, performance issues, and production incidents.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, application deployments, testing activities, and production releases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, architects, QA testers, and product stakeholders.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, design artifacts, and implementation guides.
• Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Assist in mentoring junior developers and sharing knowledge across the development team.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools and effective prompting techniques to improve productivity, accelerate development, and enhance solution quality.

Required Qualifications:

• 3-6 years of professional experience developing enterprise web applications.
• Experience developing applications using Angular, React, Vue, or a similar modern frontend framework.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS.
• Experience developing backend services using Node.js and building RESTful APIs.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies and Agile development practices.
• Experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries.
• Experience using Git and version control best practices within team-based development environments.
• Familiarity with application security, performance optimization, and secure coding principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative Agile team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with Angular and TypeScript.
• Experience developing and deploying applications within AWS cloud environments.
• Experience with microservices and microfrontend architectures.
• Experience using Jira, Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar development and CI/CD tools.
• Experience writing automated unit and integration tests using Jest, Jasmine/Karma, or similar testing frameworks.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Experience supporting production applications and participating in troubleshooting and incident resolution activities.
• Experience with cloud-native development practices and distributed systems.

Education Requirements:

• Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Citizenship & Clearance Requirements:

• Required: US Citizen w/ Public Trust or ability to achieve Public Trust Required.

Target Salary Range

Compensation for roles at Synergy is determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the requirements of the role; level of experience; education and certifications; the individual's combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities; as well as alignment with market data, federal and state laws, and other business and contract considerations. The estimated pay range for this position is: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00. The disclosed range has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case and represent just one component of Synergy's total compensation package for employees.
