We are looking for a Surface Prep Technician (2nd shift) to support the Modernization and Sustainment site in Indianapolis, Indiana.ResponsibilitiesRemoves coatings, excess material, and surface defects from items using revolving abrasive wheels, belts, and other specialized tools.Blends surface imperfections and coatings to achieve a uniform appearance.Prepares surfaces for subsequent processes, ensuring proper adhesion and finish quality.Smooths surfaces and produces specified finishes by using appropriate techniques and equipment.Selects abrasive materials, tools, and equipment according to the type of material, finish specification, and coating being removed.Replaces worn abrasive materials and tools.Examines parts for acceptability of finish and conformance to specifications.May be designated according to the type of material or process performed.QualificationsAbility to read and interpret prints, drawings, process routings, and specifications.Thorough knowledge of various types of metals, plastics, and other materials and their reactions to surface preparation operations.Knowledge of surface preparation techniques, abrasive materials, coating removal methods, and blending techniques.HS Diploma or GED required.Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.At V2X, we are deeply committed to both equal employment opportunity, including protection for veterans and individuals with disabilities, and fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
