This position works in the Accounts Receivable Cash Management Unit. The employee in this position primary responsible is reviewing the Cashier's Balancing reports and supporting documentation, creating Excel spreadsheets, assigning Revenue Codes for FLAIR entry, assisting with distribution of bank supplies and other clerical duties as needed.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Conducts daily cashier audits and review daily cashier’s balancing paperwork received from cashier locations.
• Confirm all transactions are properly entered into the approved distributed computer system for County Health Departments.
• Verify cash, checks, and money order transactions recorded in the approved distributed computer system for County Health Departments agree with transactions recorded and listed on the daily report(s).
• Identify cash discrepancies i.e., overage and shortages.
• Ensure receipts and other required documentation are received and maintained, such as deposit slips, bank validation, daily cashier reports, refund receipts, credit card transaction report, etc.
• Review the revenue excel spreadsheet received from the billing staff for accuracy prior to entering the deposit/revenue codes are entered into the official online, double entry, general ledger accounting system for the State of Florida (FLAIR).
• Enters daily deposits revenue codes into the general ledger accounting system (FLAIR).
• Research deposits for discrepancy and errors, when needed.
• Travels to various Change Fund (Cashier) Locations to conduct Quarterly Cashier Audits as needed.

Duites include, but are not limited to:

• Posts payments for EFT/ACH payments when needed.
• Assist the Accounts Receivables Department with collections by calling clients to obtain payment.
• Maintains an up-to-date record of work accomplished with backlogs indicated and provides management reports as requested.
• Verifies insurance including Medicaid, Medicaid, and private/commercial insurance.
• Follows appropriate local and state fee policies when completing the billing process each time.
• Completes assignments prior to established deadlines.
• Answers phone calls within a timely manner.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to use Facsimile, copier and personal computer.
• Understanding of Microsoft Office-Windows, Excel, Word; data entry, typing.
• Understanding basic grammar, written sentence’s structure and paragraphs in work related documents.
• Ability to gather information, knowledge of how to research various State web sites to search policies and procedures, identifying essential information needed to perform assigned duties and complete daily assignments.
• Basic mathematics knowledge.

Qualifications:

Minimum -

• Access to private and reliable transportation

• Cash Handling experience, i.e.bank teller or other cash handling experience.

• 1 year of experience in an office/clinic environment providing office administrative support (e.g., client registration, cashier, answering telephones, data entry).

• Proficient in utilizing computer technology such as Microsoft Office-Windows, Excel, Word; data entry, typing.

Preferred -

• Experience using the HMS/Billing Portal registering clients for clinic/dental services or doctor’s office.

• Experience using the health department’s HMS system for posting payments to insurance and/or client’s accounts or in a doctor’s office.

• 1-3 years of experience in Medical Billing and Coding (CPT codes) or is familiar with use of procedure manuals used in a doctor’s office and/or clinical setting.

• Must have valid driver license, some travel required.
