Physician, Interventional Radiologist with EDRP and Recruitment/Relocation Incentive

Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. Candidates must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications Applicants must meet the basic requirements listed below. If training or license requirements are pending, candidates may be considered but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA physicians who met the previous qualification standard at the time of appointment are considered to have met basic requirements. United States citizenship (non‑citizens only eligible when no qualified citizens can be recruited per VA policy). Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine from a VA‑approved school for the year completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or D.C. Residency training: completed core specialty training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited program, or (alternatives) 1 year of post‑medical‑school training followed by 2 years of independent practice, or non‑U.S. residency followed by at least 3 years of independent practice in the U.S., or approved ACGME/AOA‑accredited training of any duration with corresponding practice experience. Residents in ACGME/AOA programs who otherwise meet basic requirements may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians and may be appointed intermittently with scope of practice restricted under supervision. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Preferred experience: fellowship or residency training in interventional radiology; board certification or eligibility in interventional radiology; proficiency in multimodality and multi‑organ system diagnostic radiology; teaching and performing IR procedures. Physical requirements: moderate lifting 15–44 lb, light carrying under 15 lb; standing 4 h; rapid mental and muscular coordination; near vision correctable to 13″–16″; far vision correctable to 20/20 in one eye; other vision and hearing criteria as listed in the original. Assigned as Interventional Radiologist in the Imaging Service reporting to the Interventional Radiologist Section Chief. Clinical duties: responsible for all aspects of the Imaging Services in the STVHCS, including interventional services, timely interpretation and communication of imaging results, consultation services, safety oversight of contrast administration, protocol review, and participation in clinical conferences. Educational duties: assist, train, supervise and mentor radiology residents; provide education and training to medical staff via conferences, committees and lecture series. Administrative duties: may participate in clinical, educational and administrative committees, task groups or special projects; participate in quality control/quality management activities.
