About the Facility – Veteran's Affairs Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) The CMOP utilizes a combination of automated and manual procedures to prepare and dispense Over-The-Counter and legend drug prescriptions, controlled substance prescriptions, bulk-type prescriptions, and medical/surgical products directly by mail to patients. The nature of services includes the operation and support of automated and manual filling equipment and the preparation of prescription orders for mail-out dispensing. Facility Address: 3675 E Britannia Dr. Tucson, AZ 85706 Pharmacy Tech Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Prepares and dispenses medications, and maintains related records for patients. Prepares, packages, labels, and distributes medication doses prescribed by a physician. Maintains inventories of drugs and supplies, stocking shelves, rotating stock, and checking the expiration date of pharmaceuticals. Fills/stocks medications in various automated devices and storage locations Operates various types of pharmacy automation, including, but not limited to, Autofill devices; Baker Cells; Kalish cells, A-frames; repackaging equipment; and electronic scales. Read computer screens, use scanning equipment, and select specific drugs/products required to fill an order by name, strength, and National Drug Code number. Cleans cells and performs first-level preventative maintenance, which includes turning off lights, vacuuming, and making minor adjustments to equipment. Must be able to understand the precautions required when handling hazardous materials and hazardous waste. Pharm. Technician Qualifications Must be certified by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (NPTC). Non-certified technicians must have 6 months of experience in a retail or hospital setting. Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience as a Pharmacy Technician. Must have a high school diploma or General Education Development certificate. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds when required; push or pull up to 150 pounds on a rolling cart or using a pallet jack. Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time, stoop, reach upward and withstand various types of repetitive motion inherent in the various tasks to be performed.
