Senior Software Engineer (Claude Code or Google Gemini)

JOB SUMMARY This job is an integral member of an agile software engineer team responsible for building scalable software applications across all digital channels to serve our customers. The incumbent will be responsible for taking an enterprise-wide, architectural view of the solutions and the technical execution of products using the technical stack that best meets the needs of the platform. The position and team will be involved in every aspect of the software application build process, from idea generation, business analysis, technical design and software development using the latest technologies and design patterns. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Design and create engineering specifications for software applications and programs. Design and write code that adheres to coding standards. Perform code reviews. Generate ideas, explore and implement appropriate technical solutions to achieve required product features, while monitoring the technical process against the project plan to ensure functionality, scalability and performance. Participate in all scrum ceremonies; assist in sprint planning and complete required sprints through final execution of software applications and programs. Communicate any issues or blockers to the Scrum Master in a timely manner. Drive story creation, including Definition of Done, Acceptance Criteria and estimation. Create tasks for stories in applicable software such as RTC or Jira and update status and assignment accordingly. Monitor work against the production schedule and provide progress updates; report any issues or technical difficulties to lead developers on a regular basis. Mentor other associate and intermediate software engineers as needed. Perform other duties as assigned or requested. EDUCATION Required: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. EXPERIENCE Required 5+ years of proficiency in design and analysis of algorithms, data structures and design patterns for building scalable and highly available systems. 5+ years with at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python or JavaScript and experience with at least two of: React, Angular v4+, Node.js, NoSQL databases, HTML5, CSS, Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services. 5+ years of understanding web services technologies such as REST, and JSON. 5+ years with one or more general-purpose programming languages including Java, Python (Django/Flask), C/C++, C#, Objective-C, JavaScript or Go. 5+ years in defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility trade-offs to optimize short-term execution while planning for long-term technical capabilities. Preferred 7+ years of working with a variety of technology systems, designing solutions or developing applications in healthcare. 5+ years translating design mockups, prototypes and user stories into working applications. 5+ years producing code that is fault-tolerant, efficient and maintainable. 1+ year of experience working with Machine Learning, especially in Natural Language Understanding, Machine Translation, Deep Neural Networks and related fields. LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS None. SKILLS Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast-paced environment. Experience working with the agile methodology of scrum. Interest and ability to learn other programming languages as needed. Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, unit testing, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations. Strong track record in designing and implementing large-scale consumer-facing applications. Strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive. Demonstrated passion for user experience and improving usability. Experience and willingness to mentor junior engineers and help develop their skills and leadership. TRAVEL REQUIREMENT 0% - 25% travel. COMPENSATION Pay Range: $102,700.00 - $164,600.00.
