Civil Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a Civil Engineer (Land Development) for a client. This candidate will take ownership of site development projects, utilizing advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D skills to design and execute plans for commercial properties and specialized projects such as landfills and landfill expansions. The role involves both technical design and client-facing responsibilities, including managing permitting processes, coordinating with subcontractors, and overseeing construction phases. This is a great opportunity for a motivated engineer to work on impactful infrastructure projects while building strong client relationships and advancing their project management experience.


Day-to-Day:
Develop detailed civil design drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D
Own and manage assigned site development projects from start to finish
Coordinate with clients on project scope, permitting, and approvals
Collaborate with internal teams and Project Managers
Perform site analyses including grading, cut/fill, and stormwater calculations
Conduct site visits (~10% travel) to support project progress
Provide support during construction phases as needed
Maintain and strengthen client relationships through consistent communication

Required Skills & Experience

5-7+ years of experience in civil site design or land development
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (ability to create designs independently)
Experience managing end-to-end civil site design projects
Knowledge of permitting processes and regulatory compliance
Experience with technical analysis (cut/fill, stormwater, waste-sizing)
Strong client-facing communication and relationship management skills
Experience with commercial site development (shopping centers, landfills, etc.)


Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT)
Experience with landfill expansions, closures, and construction oversight
Prior project management experience (scheduling, resource management)
Experience working directly with subcontractors and permitting agencies
Field/construction phase support experience
Familiarity with regional projects in VA/MD areas
