Maintenance Mechanic Leader, WL-4749-10 (49388)

Position Overview Serves as the chief maintenance employee of a flood control project. Manages the operations and maintenance program according to the Operational Management Plan. Monitors maintenance requirements and makes recommendations to the resource manager concerning what requirements will be met by Government and contract labor. Responsibilities Lead and supervise comprehensive maintenance and repair operations of dam infrastructure, public facilities, and equipment; ensure safety, quality, and adherence to technical directives while providing work guidance and progress reporting. Operate, maintain, and repair diverse systems and equipment including electrical, masonry, carpentry, plumbing, roofing, painting, flood control machinery, vehicles, sewage treatment, and welding to support project functionality and public safety. Provide administrative and contract support by monitoring property security, enforcing safety, managing maintenance contracts, maintaining records, preparing work orders, and assisting with contractor oversight to ensure effective project operations. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Demonstrated ability to serve as a Maintenance Mechanic Leader without more than normal supervision, including equipment assembly, installation, repair, operation and inspection in flood release operations, repair and maintenance of dam structures and systems, and maintenance inspections. Experience or training sufficient to perform these duties independently. Competencies: Ability to interpret instructions and specifications, lead or supervise, use and maintain tools and equipment, knowledge of equipment assembly and repair, technical competence, application of technology, and use of measuring instruments. Conditions of Employment One‑year probationary period may be required; a supervisory probationary period may also be required. Travel required. Appointment may be subject to suitability or fitness determination via background investigation. Position is a Non‑Sensitive No access security clearance. Covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program and requires signing a DA Form 5019‑R. Incumbent must obtain and maintain all Corps of Engineers licenses applicable to this position, including but not limited to Dump Truck, Truck and Trailer, Crane, Forklift, and Construction Equipment. Must hold a valid state sewage treatment plant operator's license and a current Corps of Engineers motorboat operator's license. Must hold a valid state motor vehicle operator's license. Heavy physical lifting is required. Uniform according to EP 1130‑2‑520 Chapter 7 must be worn. Wildfire suppression duties may be required.
