Maintenance TechnicianBased: Chicopee MassachusettsMaintenance technician, 1st shift.Job Responsibilities:Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.Dismantle and repair machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools.Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, or machinery.Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.Order parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogs, online stores, and suppliers.Plan repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.Clean work areas and perform general cleaning of buildings or properties.Fabricate, paint or repair counters, benches, partitions, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures.Align and balance new equipment after installation.Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, or other measuring instruments.Cutting, grinding, brazing and fabrication activities.Assist in developing preventive maintenance programs.Develop equipment or component configurations.Experience:3-5 years of experience in maintenance activities.Experience with maintenance of CNC machinery is preferred, but not necessary.Experience with corrective and preventive maintenance of plant equipment and machinery.Education:High School DiplomaTechnical School Degree and/or Military Training a plusRequired Skills / Knowledge:Equipment Maintenance — Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.Repairing — Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.Equipment Selection — Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.Active Learning — Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.Complex Problem Solving — Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.Installation — Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.Reading Comprehension — Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.Speaking — Talking to others to convey information effectively.Time Management — Managing one's own time and the time of others.Problem Sensitivity — The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
