Head of Product Design

Location: NYC (hybrid – 3 days in the office) We're looking for an exceptional Head of Design to join a fast-growing mission-driven startup. This is a rare opportunity to define and build the entire design function from the ground up. You'll own the design vision across product, brand, and user experience while leading a small but growing team. We're looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with hands‑on execution and is excited by the challenge of building something meaningful from an early stage. What You'll Be Doing Own and define the overall design strategy and vision across the business Shape the look, feel, and experience of the product across mobile, web, and brand touchpoints Build and scale a design system from scratch, including components, patterns, documentation, and visual standards Set and maintain a high bar for design quality across all product surfaces Lead, mentor, and develop a growing team of designers, fostering a culture of creativity, ownership, and excellence Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Growth, Clinical Operations, and the CEO to influence company strategy and product direction Contribute to brand development, investor materials, and company storytelling Design experiences that create trust, belonging, and meaningful engagement for users What We're Looking For (our non-negotiable) 8+ years of product design experience, including at least 3 years in a design leadership role Extensive leadership experience - building teams from the ground up and managing design teams Building mobile first products (ideally for Gen Z audience) Designing B2C products Proven experience building design systems and visual languages from the ground up Strong portfolio showcasing exceptional consumer, social, or mobile-first products Comfortable operating as a player-coach, balancing leadership responsibilities with hands‑on design work Deep understanding of mobile and web product design, user experience, interaction design, and visual craft Strong stakeholder management and cross‑functional collaboration skills Passion for mission-driven products that create real‑world impact Start up experience If you're excited about building a category-defining product, leading a talented team, and creating experiences that positively impact millions of lives, we'd love to hear from you. #J-18808-Ljbffr
