ViiV Medical Science Liaison, Pacific Northwest (OR/WA/ID/AK)

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role is a field based, customer‑facing, non‑promotional medical and scientific position within the Pacific Northwest (PNW) area. The MSL’s key objective is to create impact through advancing clinical practice within the assigned territory, leading to improved patient outcomes. The MSL serves as a scientific expert in HIV treatment and prevention, engages with healthcare providers and medical experts, and drives the medical strategic plan. Through curiosity and insight collection, the MSL informs and shapes medical strategy for the development and commercialization of ViiV products. Responsibilities and Key Activities Build strong scientific acumen and serve as primary point of contact for medical and scientific inquiries in HIV treatment and prevention. Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with external experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals. Engage in emerging data discussions, clinical trial activities, and market dynamics within the territory. Gather and relay field insights to inform product development, clinical trial design, and market strategies. Develop and deliver scientific presentations and training sessions for healthcare professionals and internal teams. Ensure all activities comply with regulatory guidelines and company policies. Act as a role model for ViiV’s culture and values, and mentor new or less experienced MSLs. Disseminate safety information to healthcare professionals as directed by Medical Affairs or R&D. Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including advocacy groups and formulary decision‑makers. Assist in clinical development activities, including GSK and Investigator Sponsored Studies, and provide site performance insights. Attend national and regional scientific/medical meetings to gather customer feedback on data and disease states. Collaborate across matrix stakeholders with a One‑ViiV mindset. Execute administrative responsibilities: Veeva CRM, email, expense reports, and maintain up‑to‑date CRM data. Basic Qualifications Advanced degree (MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, APP). 3+ years of clinical experience in HIV or Infectious Disease. Stakeholder management experience. Valid driver’s license. Ability to travel 40‑60%. Preferred Qualifications HIV field medical experience in the U.S. Track record of consistent high performance within field‑based medical affairs. Solid grounding in clinical, medical, and pharmaceutical science with rapid assimilation of detailed knowledge. Experience evaluating and communicating evidence‑based medicine with strong scientific communication and presentation skills. Leadership and project management experience, including stakeholder management and cross‑functional team representation. Demonstrated excellence in mentoring MSLs, leading complex field‑based initiatives, and strategic planning. Experience engaging in one‑on‑one and group settings. Effective communication skills. Compensation & Benefits The U.S. annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $168,750 to $281,250, adjusted for location and experience. The role offers an annual bonus and eligibility for a share‑based long‑term incentive program.
