CIVIL DESIGN ENGINEER

What We Are Looking ForThe Engineering Design group is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to support interstate natural gas pipeline projects. This individual will be a technical resource within the Engineering Design group and must possess the ability to collaborate with a wide variety of people in various departments with tact, courtesy and professionalism. This individual will also represent the Company with customers, suppliers, licensees, third party engineering firms, outside consultants, and industry associationsWhat You Will DoThe selected candidate should have a mix of civil engineering skills and industry-specific knowledge. Industry specific knowledge would include understanding how to design pipeline routes, select materials (such as steel grades), and calculate wall thickness for pressure ratings. The individual should also possess an understanding of the types of equipment that must be supported.What You NeedBS in Engineering requiredMinimum 5 years of gas industry experience preferredWorking knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (49CFR Part 192, BOCA, ACI, ASTM, ANSI, OSHA, IBC, ASCE, AISC, UPC, AASHTO, etc.)Ability to read and interpret civil/structural drawingsAbility to read and interpret alignment sheets, geotechnical reports, and topographical survey dataAbility to analyze soil stability, slope stability, and erosion control, especially for pipelines crossing hills, rivers, or unstable groundAbility to design and manage complex crossings for roads, railroads, and bodies of water using horizontal direction drilling or open-cut methodsAbility to design supports, anchors, bridge crossings and foundations for compressor stations, meter stations and valve sitesAbility to develop lift plans for critical equipmentAbility to create and maintain technical specifications, engineering standards, construction standards, and O&M standards to ensure code compliance and safety, and to increase efficiencyAbility to prepare and coordinate engineering reports, calculations, studies, and presentationsProficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and BluebeamProficiency with STAAD.Pro, RAM Connection, Slide2, AutoPIPE, MAT3D, LPILE, CAESAR II, and SLAT preferredMust be able to plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work Must be able to perform job functions with minimal guidance or supervision and to accomplish goals in a fast-paced environmentMust possess well-developed analytical and problem solving skills to address complex technical mattersMust be accountable for completing quality tasks on schedule and within budget while complying with applicable codes and standardsMust be able and willing to take direction from managers and senior leadersMust maintain regular and dependable attendanceMust be a United States citizenMust possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the CompanyMust be able and willing to travel (approximately 25%)Why Join Kinder MorganKinder Morgan is a large energy infrastructure company operating in North America.
