Environmental Health & Safety Manager

Summary Responsible for promoting GDI’s Safety initiatives, goals, and objectives to ensure compliance with corporate, legal and client specific requirements across assigned territory. Provide safety training for employees on policies, regulations, and procedures. Advise the VP Risk & Safety as well as Operations Leaders on safety issues and compliance in specific projects and operations. Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines. Manage incident reports, workers compensation cases, metrics, and injury case studies to institute changes that lead to a safer environment. Enforce Health & Safety regulations. Perform safety meetings, safety conference calls, and tool box talks to the appropriate employee level. Perform Job hazard analysis, safety audits, inspections and behavioral observations. Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions. Interpret and enforce company policies and procedures for workers. Observe work and monitor workers to ensure that operators conform to environmental, health and safety standards. Conduct employee training in safety policy and procedures. Confer with management to resolve environmental, health and safety violations, hazards, risks or work practices. Gather appropriate metrics and calculate labor and safety metrics requirements and specifications, using standard formulas. Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve awareness, safe production methods, equipment, or efficiency while maintaining. Requisition safety materials, supplies, or PPE for workers. Recommend or execute personnel actions, such as evaluations, or disciplinary counseling or warnings concerning safety policies. Qualifications Degree or certificate in environmental health, safety or business or related field 3+ years of EHS experience required In-depth knowledge of OSHA Federal requirements and Michigan OSHA (MIOSHA) Strong interpersonal skills Ability to lead and teach a team Great attention to detail Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms Excellent organizational skills GDI Services Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
