PC Support Supervisor

Ohio Department of Public Safety - Director's Office / Information Technology (IT Support) Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223 Responsibilities Supervise information technology staff whose primary duties involve writing, analyzing, and designing computer programs or systems integration for minicomputer, and monitoring and maintaining minicomputer control processing unit operations. Oversee the operations and activities of the PC Support, Operations, and Service desk units, including establishing policies and procedures, scheduling and conducting staff meetings, reviewing work, and assisting with difficult computer problems. Oversee 24x7 support of internal IT customers; plan and initiate upgrades for the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) to keep desktops in a supported state. Manage and monitor tickets via a tracking system such as ServiceNow. Oversee the IT processes of Moves, Adds, and Changes of ODPS employees within the building and externally, ensuring smooth transitions and developing improvements to increase functionality. Qualifications Option 1 : 6 1/2 years of relevant experience, commensurate with job duties, and 6 months of experience performing project management functions. Option 2 : Completion of undergraduate core coursework in computer science or an academic major that includes at least one course in advanced-level programming (e.g., COBOL, Delphi, Java, etc.), logic-based mathematics, database concepts (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft Access), systems analysis and design, and basic data processing concepts, plus an additional 4 1/2 years of experience commensurate with job duties, and 6 months of project management experience. Equivalent minimum class qualification for employment may be considered. Project Management Overview A series of steps followed to formulate and implement project policy, including defining the problem, developing solutions, creating a project plan, executing the plan, and validating and verifying success, as well as supervising or coordinating personnel assigned to work units.
