Hourly pay: $26–$32, based on relevant experience and demonstrated sales results.

Alley Pond Golf Center is a golf, dining, and recreation destination in Douglaston, Queens. Our facility features 71 Toptracer-equipped hitting bays, indoor golf simulators, a restaurant and bar, and a Golf Pro Shop.

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on, sales-driven Retail Manager to oversee our Golf Pro Shop and grow the retail business both in-store and online.

This role combines daily store management with sales development, e-commerce, and promotional support. You will lead the team, manage merchandise and inventory, build customer relationships, and turn new sales opportunities into results.

The ideal candidate takes ownership of the business, actively sells, and brings practical ideas to increase revenue while maintaining healthy margins.

Key Responsibilities

Sales and Business Growth

• Set sales goals with management and develop action plans to achieve them.
• Actively engage customers, recommend products, and close sales.
• Introduce Pro Shop products to driving range guests, golf students, and event customers.
• Increase average purchase value through relevant product recommendations, bundles, and complementary purchases.
• Build customer relationships that encourage repeat business and referrals.
• Develop new sales opportunities, including corporate merchandise orders, group purchases, and local partnerships.
• Review sales performance and recommend improvements to products, pricing, and promotions.

Store Operations and Team Leadership

• Oversee daily Pro Shop operations and maintain an organized, welcoming shopping environment.
• Train, schedule, and support staff.
• Coach the team on product knowledge, selling techniques, and customer service.
• Establish clear sales and service expectations and provide ongoing feedback.
• Manage POS processes, customer inquiries, returns, and order follow-up.

Merchandising and Inventory

• Manage inventory, purchasing, replenishment, pricing, and product displays.
• Select merchandise based on customer needs, seasonal demand, and sales trends.
• Build vendor relationships and negotiate purchasing terms.
• Keep popular products in stock and develop plans for slow-moving merchandise.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and control shrinkage.

E-Commerce and Promotional Support

• Manage online product listings, pricing, inventory, and order fulfillment.
• Identify opportunities to grow online sales and improve the shopping experience.
• Work with the Marketing team to plan and execute seasonal promotions, product launches, and sales events.
• Provide product information, promotional ideas, and customer insights to support social media, email, and other campaigns.
• Ensure promotions are implemented accurately in-store and online.
• Track campaign sales results and follow up on customer inquiries and sales leads.

Performance Expectations

Success in this role will be measured by progress toward agreed sales goals, gross margin, average transaction value, inventory turnover, and repeat business.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail management or retail sales leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to increase sales or improve store performance.
• Strong selling, customer service, and team coaching skills.
• Experience with inventory management, merchandising, purchasing, and POS systems.
• Ability to interpret sales data and turn insights into action.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of results.
• Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.

Preferred Experience

• Shopify or another e-commerce platform.
• Retail promotions, business development, or corporate sales.
• Golf, sporting goods, apparel, or specialty retail.
• Knowledge of and interest in golf.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary of $56,000–$71,000, based on experience and qualifications.
• Paid time off.
• Complimentary lunch during scheduled shifts
