Job Title: ER Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: RN License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC Must-Have: Recent experience in Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma Emergency Room Driver's license required Pass/Fail exam during orientation with a 90% passing score Description: The position involves working in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency room setting. You will care for patients with common diagnoses, including trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, and strokes. The emergency room includes 20 beds, with 5 designated for trauma and additional observation and hallway beds. You will work in a collaborative environment with a charge nurse on each shift, as well as nurse aides, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters. Ratios in the emergency room are 1:4 in zones, 1:6 in Fast Track, 1:5 in observation, and 1:1 in ICU/Trauma. Security personnel are present 24/7 within the emergency room. Registered Nurses are required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips. Weekend and holiday requirements will vary based on departmental needs. You will float to the observation unit and a separate emergency room location as needed. Please note that artificial nails are prohibited for all patient care staff.
