Rhino Medical is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) with recent surgical assist experience for ongoing locum tenens coverage supporting a high-acuity adult medical-surgical unit in Potsdam, New York. This role involves a diverse clinical scope including operating room procedures and medical-surgical floor care, with scheduled shifts primarily during weekdays and weekends, including call coverage.

This opportunity offers a comprehensive practice environment with modern technology, strict unit policies, and a collaborative team supporting adult patients with a wide variety of medical problems. Providers will engage in procedures such as wound cauterization, vessel management, suturing, and patient stabilization, along with rounding, managing patient orders, discharges, and consults.

• Surgical First Assist duties in OR and medical-surgical floor

Practice Environment
Supporting adult acutely ill patients in a 109-bed high-acuity unit, staffed with one provider, one NP, one LPN, and anesthesia personnel as applicable. The environment emphasizes safety, professionalism, and adherence to policies including clock-in/out, lunch breaks, conservative attire, and required certifications. Providers utilize EPIC EMR with a focus on efficient documentation and communication in a fast-paced setting.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Surgical First Assist in OR: wound cauterization, vessel management, suturing, wound packing, positioning, clamping, bleeding control, suctioning, drainage, irrigation, immobilization
• Floor Care: rounding, managing orders, discharges, consults
• Assistance with general surgery, OB/GYN, and orthopedic adult patients
• Ensuring patient safety and optimal procedural outcomes

Candidate Requirements

• NY State Physician Assistant license in hand and in scope for practice
• DEA Registration
• Current Board Certified or Board Eligible in a relevant specialty
• Minimum of 2 years recent clinical experience in acute care settings
• AHA BLS, ACLS, ATLS certifications
• Epic EMR experience required
• Good written and verbal communication
