This role supports Amazon's Global Accounting organization across multiple high-growth business areas including:

• \tAWS Revenue Accounting - billing, accounts receivable, deferred revenue, and write-off processes

• \tAWS Technology Infrastructure - capital expenditures, leased and owned assets

• \tAmazon MGM Studios - revenue operations, content licensing, royalty processing (ASC 606)

• \tAmazon Publishing - recoupable advances, royalty calculation, multi-channel distribution

• \tPrime Video - APAC operational accounting, international financial reporting

• \tAmazon Advertising - controllership, AI-driven process improvements, SEC reporting (10-K/10-Q)

• \tDigital Accounting - operational accounting for digital products and services

• \tCapital & Lease Accounting - owned and leased capex lifecycle, balance sheet reporting

The right individual will have exceptional accounting skills, strong leadership skills, and solid business judgment capable of driving an organization to the right results. They will have operated successfully in a fast-paced, global, results-oriented environment, and have the ability to influence the decisions of senior business leaders through effective verbal and written communication, logical reasoning, and the presentation of alternatives. The successful candidate must be able to think and act both strategically and tactically.

Key job responsibilities

Financial Close & Reporting

• \tOwn and manage the monthly/quarterly close process, including preparing journal entries, analyzing variances, and delivering meaningful financial reporting to management

• \tManage period-end close by ensuring accurate and timely completion of all accounting entries and reconciliations

• \tPerform analytical review of balances and provide balance sheet account movements to support cash flow reporting

• \tOwn critical financial reporting deliverables, including 10-K and 10-Q disclosures

• \tCoordinate quarterly reviews and approvals of estimates, presenting conclusions to senior leadership

Technical Accounting & Controllership

• \tResearch, conclude, and memorialize technical accounting position papers

• \tReview licensing agreements and interpret contractual terms to determine appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606

• \tPrepare and review technical accounting memos under US GAAP, ensuring regulatory compliance

• \tExecute quarterly reviews and sign-offs on SOX 404 key controls, ensuring robust internal control framework

• \tUnderstand internal control design concepts sufficient to assess the effectiveness of controls and design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities

Cross-Functional Partnership

• \tPartner closely with cross-functional teams including Finance, Production, Tax, Sales, and Technology to ensure alignment and effective information flow

• \tBuild trust and credibility with senior leadership through clear, concise communication

• \tEnd-to-end process ownership to support finance and business partners

• \tDrive projects, provide accounting guidance, and often serve as first point of contact for finance and business partners to launch new projects and resolve issues

• \tEnhance partnerships between Accounting and various business and IT groups

Process Improvement & Automation

• \tEvaluate existing processes and recommend, develop, and drive improvements to increase efficiency and scalability

• \tDrive AI and automation solutions for operational improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy across accounting processes

• \tIdentify process improvement and automation opportunities to drive positive change across the organization

• \tCreate process improvements with automation and analysis to scale and improve controllership with measurable results

Leadership & Team Development

• \tLead delivery of accounting tasks and projects across multiple business verticals

• \tPrioritization of tasks while providing active coaching to a team of talented individuals

• \tEscalate risks and issues as necessary to leadership

• \tAct as a subject matter expert for internal technology teams and business partners

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience

- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- CPA

- Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency

- Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification

- Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients

- Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
