Construction Inspector

Position SummaryGDM-AE, Inc. is staffing for federal healthcare construction and design support work at active healthcare facilities in Palo Alto, CA.The Construction Inspector role calls for hands-on field experience verifying construction quality, drawing/spec conformance, and safety on healthcare facility projects. Senior candidates must have 10+ years of construction inspection or contractor oversight experience; Construction Inspector candidates must have 7+ years. The role observes daily work, documents progress, and coordinates field issues with the project team.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform daily field observations and document construction progress, work activities, manpower, deficiencies, and constraints.Review work for general conformance with drawings, specifications, codes, standards, and project requirements.Prepare daily reports, field reports, photo logs, punch lists, deficiency logs, and closeout verification records.Coordinate with project managers, contractors, designers, facility staff, testing agencies, and federal client representatives.Support inspections, testing coordination, safety observations, phasing coordination, and field issue resolution.Assist with RFI, submittal, change, and field condition documentation.QualificationsSenior Construction Inspector: 10 or more years of construction inspection, superintendent, field engineering, QA, or construction administration experience.Construction Inspector: 7 or more years of relevant field inspection or construction field experience.Ability to read drawings, specifications, schedules, submittals, and field documentation.Familiarity with handling RFIs, change orders, and submittal logs.Field knowledge of safety, scheduling, and cost control.Healthcare, federal, hospital, laboratory, or occupied facility experience preferred.OSHA 30, ICC inspector certifications, CQMC, or trade/special inspection certifications preferred.Experience with daily reports, deficiency tracking, punch lists, and photo documentation.Federal Contract RequirementsSome local travel within the Palo Alto service area is part of normal duties.Tier 1 Low Risk / Non-Sensitive background investigation (NACI / SF-85) required prior to assignment.Must abide by all client facility rules, security procedures, and safety regulations.Employees represent themselves as contracted personnel, not federal employees, and do not perform inherently governmental functions.LocationOn-site, Palo Alto, CA.Compensation and BenefitsMonthly certification pay for additional licensing (PMP, LEED AP, BCxA, etc.)Health, Dental, and Vision insurance401(k) matchPTOEducation/Professional Development paidAbout UsGDM-AE, Inc. is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business providing full-service architecture and engineering solutions for federal agencies nationwide.
