Permanent CustodianESS Cleaners are responsible for the repair, maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of all district facilities and grounds; their mission is to maintain the schools' physical facilities in a condition of cleanliness and safety.ResponsibilitiesPerform all activities that are related in nature and deemed appropriate by head custodian/administration before, during, and after school hours and during school vacationsCheck building at beginning and end of shift, ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the building; turn on lights at the beginning of the day, turn off lights at the end of the day; set security alarms accordingly if applicable; lock all doors and gates after use at the end of the dayRaise, lower, and properly store the American flag.Clean rooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways, and other areas of building according to school district standardsMust be knowledgeable of cleaning procedures, cleaning equipment, and cleaning chemicals.Sweep, mop, buff, strip, and wax floorsClean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and blindsWash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, sills, and glass surfacesSet up and break down chairs, tables, and equipment in cafeteria, meeting rooms, and functional roomsAssist in maintaining seasonal grounds work (snow, lawn)Perform grounds-keeping duties, clear litter and debris and maintain groundsDeliver supplies and materials to classrooms, bathrooms, and other areas of the buildingEmpty recycling baskets and wastebaskets, pick up and remove trash, replace trash bagsMaintain the cleanliness and safety of all storage areasUnderstand and adhere to all MissionOne and school district policies and proceduresAbility to understand and follow written and oral instructions.Ability to operate mechanical equipment.Physical Demands:Stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk or hearSquat, stoop or kneel, reach with arms above the head, and reach forwardUse hand strength to grasp tools and climbs on laddersBend or twist at the neck and trunkFrequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies, pails, and unloading trucksOccasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds such as salt and bulk furniturePush/pull items such as tables, bleachers, and scrubbing machinesSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, squat, stoop or kneel, reach with arms above the head, and reach forwardQualificationsValid Pennsylvania Driver's LicenseHigh School Diploma or GEDPennsylvania State Police ClearanceChild Abuse ClearanceFBI FingerprintingSchool Health Form: Physical and Tuberculosis TestPennsylvania Department of Education Form 6004: Arrest/Conviction Report and CertificationAs leaders in the education staffing space since 2000, ESS specializes in placing qualified staff in daily, long-term, and permanent K-12 school district positions including substitute teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school support staff.
