Job Description

We are seeking a skilled carpenter with at least six months of construction experience to contribute to a variety of commercial, retail, and multi-family new construction projects across the greater Milwaukee area. This role focuses on both rough and finish carpentry, including framing, drywall, and detailed trim work, while providing opportunities to lead crews and support mixed-use building projects in locations such as Waukesha and Mukwonago. The ideal candidate brings strong safety awareness, reliable transportation, and their own basic tools, and is comfortable working on active construction sites in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of carpentry tasks, including rough carpentry, framing, finish carpentry, and drywall work on commercial, retail, and multi-family new construction projects.
• Build and finish new construction multi-family buildings and mixed-use developments in areas such as Waukesha and Mukwonago.
• Execute both rough and finish work with high quality standards, including installing framing, trim, doors, and other finish components.
• Read and interpret blueprints to understand project specifications, layout requirements, and construction details.
• Use personal basic tools such as a tool belt, hammer, drill, and tape measure safely and efficiently to complete daily tasks.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety at all times, following site safety protocols and using proper protective equipment.
• Travel to various job sites throughout the greater Milwaukee area using reliable transportation, and work effectively in different commercial and retail environments.
• Work on construction sites in varying weather conditions, adapting to outdoor and indoor environments as needed.
• Collaborate with other carpenters and tradespeople to ensure projects are completed on schedule and according to specifications.
• Support or lead crews on site, providing direction and coordination to ensure efficient workflow and quality workmanship.
• Assist with layout work on job sites when needed, ensuring accurate measurements and alignment for framing and finish carpentry.
• Contribute to restaurant and retail store build-outs when required, applying carpentry skills to specialized commercial interiors.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 0.5+ years of experience in construction, preferably in rough or finish carpentry.
• Strong hands-on experience with finish carpentry, including detailed trim and interior finishing work.
• Experience with rough carpentry and framing, including structural framing for new construction projects.
• Ability to perform drywall-related tasks as part of carpentry and construction work.
• Ownership of basic carpentry tools, including a tool belt, hammer, drill, and tape measure.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints to understand construction plans and layouts.
• Approximately 1 year of foreman or crew-leading experience, with the ability to oversee and coordinate work on site.
• Demonstrated strong safety awareness and adherence to construction site safety practices.
• Reliable transportation to travel to multiple job sites across the greater Milwaukee area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience running and supervising crews on construction sites.
• Layout experience, including measuring, marking, and setting up framing and finish carpentry work.
• Prior experience working on restaurant and retail store construction or build-outs.
• Experience on commercial construction sites and interior build-out projects.
• Familiar in multi-family and mixed-use new construction environments.

Work Environment

This role is based entirely on active construction sites throughout the greater Milwaukee area, including commercial properties, retail spaces, multi-family buildings, and mixed-use developments. Work takes place both outdoors and indoors, and you should be comfortable in varying weather conditions—hot summers and cold winters. During winter months, most work shifts to interior commercial projects and build-outs. The environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, with standard construction site conditions, tools, and equipment. You will travel between different job locations, and reliable transportation is essential. Dress should be appropriate for construction work, including durable clothing and footwear suitable for safety-conscious job sites.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waukesha, WI.

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Waukesha,WI.
